Thomas Bieling

Thomas Bieling completed his architecture studies at the highly esteemed TU Braunschweig. After years of experience and close personal collaboration in internationally renowned architecture firms such as Gottfried Böhm's (Pritzker Prize laureate in 1986) and Meinhard von Gerkan's (gmp), Thomas Bieling took over as the design director of Bieling Architects in 1988. Since 2022, he has been the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Bieling Architects.

Alongside his professional work, Thomas Bieling has also been involved in academia. In 2001, he assumed a professorship in the field of design and construction at the University of Kassel. Additionally, he has held various positions of leadership within the architectural community. From 1994 to 2000, Thomas Bieling was a board member of the Association of German Architects (BDA) in Hesse.

 

He served as the chairman of the Design Advisory Board of the city of Kassel from 1995 to 2001, and from 2000 to 2005, he was a member of the Committee of the Architects' and Urban Planners' Chamber in Hesse. He also chaired the Committee for Education and Professional Development of the Architects' and Urban Planners' Chamber in Hesse from 2004 to 2007. Since 2002, he has been a member of the Art Committee in the Diocese of Fulda.

Thomas Bieling actively participates in jury activities for architectural competitions and frequently assumes the role of chairman in various architectural competition proceedings.
